Targhee Fest this year was well attended and featured some very good bands. The best one was Booker T. He put on an absolutely amazing performance.

This weekend was the 12th annual Targhee Music Festival.

Pictured at left is my friend Jess Collins who worked hospitality services for the artists who were performing.

I attended Targhee Fest this weekend. The weather was kinda funky but I had a good time anyway.

The music was great (as usual) and there were many photo opportunities.

Of special note: on Friday, Taj Mahal was scheduled to perform the second to last set of the day. They had to cancel so Warren Haynes of Government Mule played a solo acoustic set before the whole of Government Mule closed out the night. Quite a treat!

Targhee Fest is always a lot of fun. It also features a "target rich" environment for my candid photos of people. At left are my friends Jess and Megan.

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals were the starring act at this summer's Targhee Festival. Grace remarked that it was the first time the "Nocturnals" played there at night! Unfortunately, that group has gotten so popular that I am afraid we will never have them again at Targhee. I hope I am wrong.

More music. More photos.

A story attached to this photo:

Several years later, I was having dinner in The Royal Wolf with my good friend Mari Castello. As we were leaving, Julie was coming into the restaurant. I struck up a conversation with her and told her about this photo and that it was posted on my web site.

She and her husband Matt have become good friends of mine. Julie and I sometimes hike together.

The Derek Trucks Band performed at Grand Targhee tonight. Derek's wife Susan Tedeschi joined the band and took it to another level.

Mary Lacy, a good friend from our college days at Washington University in St. Louis, joined me. Mary has lived in Houston, TX for around 35 years so she  is not accustomed to, shall we say, "cooler temperatures". As this was at night at an elevation of 9,000 feet, we did have some of those cooler temperatures.

At one point, I asked her if she would be alright if I left her and went down near the stage to take some photos. She said yes.

When I returned, she was wrapped up in some blankets that had been loaned to her. She was still quite cold. I suggested she accompany me back to stage front where there was a crowd of humanity generating much heat.

She did so and was quite comfortable. She remarked that she couldn't wait to phone her sons to let them know their mother was "in the mosh pit"!
