Drive Out Posted: June 06, 2017   Steve Odenwald and I once again drove out to Driggs together. We decided to take 2-1/2 days for the drive instead of the usual 1-1/2 days in case I experienced any problems with my hip replacement. No problems with the hip and we decided that this was a much better approach to the trip. The extra day was used to explore the Snowy Range west of Laramie Wyoming. My previous visit to that area was in the Fall. This time I wanted to photograph it with snow in the mountains.   View Photos

Rock Springs Posted: May 28, 2016   I have been wanting to try to photograph the wild horses around Rock Springs for a number of years. It seems I usually drive Highway 287 and am nowhere near Rock Springs. The drive out this year was under mostly rainy conditions so I elected to head toward Rock Springs. There is a Wild Horse Loop Trail north of Rock Springs. This dirt road follows some interesting sights as you can see from these photos. The road ends in Green River Wyoming which is about 11 miles west of Rock Springs. I only saw one group of wild horses and from a pretty great distance. I used my Tamron 150-600 lens but still had to crop pretty heavily for the photos here.   View Photos

Snowy Range Posted: September 03, 2013   On the back to St. Louis from Driggs, we stopped by the Snowy Range just west of Laramie, Wyoming. Bill & Jane Heaston had done that on their way back to Little Rock and urged me to do that as well. Since Bill had flown out to Driggs and rode back with me, we decided to visit the Snowy Range.   View Photos

Granite Canyon Posted: September 01, 2012   This was one of my last photo outings of the summer. My visitors were Rick & Dawn Scheussler along with Ray Schulz. This canyon is not a popular canyon mainly because it is pretty far from the normal tourist areas but I find it to be a particularly pretty canyon. There is also a nice waterfall and a hot springs fed swimming pool to be found.   View Photo

Red Hills Posted: July 20, 2012   My guests for this hike were Bruce & Betsy Canaga. Bruce has visited 14 of the 16 summers I have had my place in Driggs. We took a hike in the Red Hills east of Grand Teton National Park. The hills were so red. The clouds were so white and the sky was so blue. Let's call it: Red, White and Blue. South Fork Teton Canyon Posted: August 13, 2005   I had dinner last night with John and his family at The Blue Lion in Jackson. They are staying for a bit on the Jackson side so I invited them over to Driggs for the day. My plan was to take the ski lift ride at Grand Targhee but access to Targhee was shut down due to the Bluegrass Festival. Instead we decided to hike the South Fork of Teton Canyon. John's daughter Madison and her friend Jillian were able to see a moose. After the hike, we spent some time at Casa Budde West. Kathy had talked John into renting a camper for their "adventure". I sensed that John was not totally on board with the idea. Hint: while in Jackson they stayed at the Ritz Carlton at Teton Village. Kathy asked me to help her setup the tent so she would be sure it would work for their adventure. Alas, she forgot the poles. John was so happy that he was not going to have to sleep in that tent!   View Photos
