- About Soulard -

Soulard is one of the oldest and most vibrant neighborhoods in St. Louis, Missouri. It is known for its historic architecture, lively nightlife, and diverse cuisine. Soulard is also home to the largest Mardi Gras celebration in the Midwest, attracting thousands of visitors every year.

In this blog post, I will share with you some of the best things to do and see in Soulard, whether you are a local or a tourist. Here are some of my personal recommendations:

- Visit the Soulard Farmers Market. This is the oldest farmers market west of the Mississippi River, dating back to 1779. You can find fresh produce, meats, cheeses, baked goods, flowers, and more. The market is open Wednesday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Enjoy a drink at one of the many bars and pubs. Soulard has over 30 bars and pubs within walking distance of each other, offering a variety of music, entertainment, and drinks. Some of the popular spots include McGurk's Irish Pub, Hammerstone's, Molly's in Soulard, and 1860 Saloon.
- Explore the historic buildings and landmarks. Soulard has a rich history and culture, reflected in its architecture and monuments. You can admire the French colonial style houses, the ornate churches, and the iconic Soulard Gaslight Square sign. You can also take a guided tour of the Anheuser-Busch Brewery, which has been operating in Soulard since 1852.
- Experience the Mardi Gras festivities. Soulard hosts the second largest Mardi Gras celebration in the country, after New Orleans. The festivities begin in January and last until Fat Tuesday in February or March. You can enjoy parades, parties, concerts, beads, costumes, and Cajun food.
